My dealer in London just sent me the Wendy Chen translation of Li Qingzhao (1084–1151), considered the greatest woman poet in Chinese history. Comes out in the US next month. Absolutely beautiful reflections on life during wartime, the paradoxical loneliness and nourishment of country life for a poet. 11th century and fresh as can be!
